Day 4: Incubator – Keyword Research

keyword researchStomperNet’s Incubator faculty made up for yesterday’s technical glitch by releasing 2 lessons today.  I honestly reported during the first few days whenever I felt that StomperNet was doing something that was negative.  Let me honestly tell you right now that I was blown away by the information that I learned from today’s couple of video lessons.

Let’s start with Day 4’s Keyword Research. The faculty could have just focused on a Keyword Software Tool that StomperNet carries but what did they amazingly do? They presented not 1, not 2, 3, 4 or 5 FREE keyword research tools, they pointed us to 13! Let me repeat that. 13 FREE keyword research tools! These are free software tools that I can still use even if I don’t end up signing up for another month of membership with StomperNet.

I knew about some of those 13 tools already. But I never thought to use them that way. Basically, the instructor chose an arbitrary keyword and had that same keyword go through all the tools and explained how the results can be helpful. There was a tool that exposed how your competitors are doing their Keywords so you can copy what they are doing if you are a new entry to the market. Or if you are an old player in your market but still not on top, you can copy how the top dog in your market is conducting their Keywords. What else… there were tools that showed trends which is very useful if your products are seasonal in nature. There was also a tool that showed up-and-coming Keywords so you can prepare for them.

Oh, where are my manners. Skip the next two paragraphs if you already know what keywords are. Keywords are what people type on Google, Yahoo, MSN etc… when they are searching for something. Keywords are important because these Search Engines analyze what is written on your website and based on this analysis, they determine whether your website should be on the first page of the search results for the Keyword or Keywords typed by the Searcher. If your website gets displayed on the first page, you have a higher probability of being visited by the Searcher as compared to your website landing on say… page 88. More visitors mean more income.

Keywords are also important because it pays to have your web page optimized for a keyword that many people are searching. You see, even if you get on Page 1 when a user types a keyword to search, it won’t do you much good if within a month, only 1 person did a search for that keyword.

Day 5 immediately follows.
